Namada Launches Its Mainnet to Open a New Era of Privacy and Governance on Blockchains
Namada is a privacy-centric, state-of-the-art Layer 1 blockchain platform that has been gaining much excitement over the launch of its mainnet. This is going to usher in a new era of blockchain-centered on data privacy and decentralized self-governance. Most chains launch everything all at once; however, Namada will take a very calculated approach and ramp up functionality in five distinct phases to support scalability, security, and especially inclusion for their growing community.
Why Namada’s Launch is a Big Deal
Namada’s ambition is immense: offer data protection without precedent across leading blockchain ecosystems including Cosmos and Ethereum. A Multi-Asset Shielded Pool develops privacy across assets, creating a single shielded set to reduce traceability and enhance data protection. The innovative Multi-Asset Shielded Pool (MASP) developed by Namada aggregates privacy across all kinds of assets-fungible tokens, NFTs, and interchain assets-reducing traceability and generating one shielded set.
Namada is all about launching at its core-governance. Each step or phase of the rollout has an on-chain vote of the community for making critical choices. In this way, it’s highly decentralized and the protocol is changed by the users; it will be trusted as well as highly utilized.

The Five Stages of Namada Mainnet Launch
Stage 1: Block Party — This Phase is LIVE!
This first phase sets the foundation for Namada’s network:
- Proof-of-Stake Activation: Validators and delegators can stake Namada’s native token, $NAM, to secure the network.
- Governance Enablement: Namada’s community gains the ability to participate in decision-making through on-chain governance. This includes decisions on advancing to subsequent phases.
- Genesis $NAM Access: Early adopters can claim their initial $NAM allocations, kickstarting staking and participation.
Phase 2: Staking Party
Economic incentives are introduced to drive engagement:
- Staking Rewards : Validators and delegators begin to get rewards for securing the network.
- Public Goods Funding (PGF): A portion of $NAM inflation is directed to ecosystem growth and projects that benefit both Namada and external communities.
Phase 3: Shielding Party
This phase opens up Namada’s flagship privacy features:
- Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC): Transfers of assets such as ATOM and OSMO are enabled, bridging Namada to the greater IBC ecosystem.
- Shielded Transactions: By utilizing Namada’s Multi-Asset Shielded Pool, users can shield assets and make their transactions across blockchains even more private.
Phase 4: Shielding Rewards Party
Namada incentivizes privacy-preserving actions in the following way:
- Shielding Rewards: The users are incentivized with rewards to shield their assets in MASP.
- Privacy set expands : As more assets are shielded, Namada’s privacy protections become more robust.
Phase 5: NAM Party
Full network activation occurs in this last phase:
- $NAM Transfers Activated: Users can now freely transfer $NAM tokens, unlocking the network’s complete functionality.
- Full Protocol Live: Staking, governance, shielding, and rewards are fully integrated and live.
Community-Driven Evolution
Namada’s unique approach relies on decentralized decision-making. Each phase transition is contingent on governance votes, ensuring that the community has a direct role in shaping the network’s progress. This commitment to decentralization reflects Namada’s core principles of transparency and collective responsibility.
